Tape Matter Memory

'Tape Matter Memory' is a collection of fifteen pieces developed through an engagement with cassette tape loops, voice, drums, stringed instruments, field recordings and synthesis. The pieces grew out of repeated gestures, close listening and small alterations. A loop stretches or wears; a sound comes around again without ever arriving in quite the same shape. Those shifts become part of the music, as familiar textures open into different rhythms and relationships. The collection traces a process of returning to an idea, letting it change, and discovering what materials can suggest. Written, recorded, produced and mastered by Brian B Greene. Artwork by Brian B Greene.
